Revolution Skate FAQs

Do I need to know how to skate to come to a roller disco?
Not at all! Everyone is welcome, whether you're a total beginner or a seasoned skater. Our team is happy to help if you need a few tips to get rolling.

Can I hire skates and protective gear?
Yes, we offer skate hire (junior size 6 up to Adult size 12) and a range of protective gear (helmets, wrist guards, pads) at every session. You’re also welcome to bring your own skates and kit.

What age can I skate without an adult?
-
Children of all ages are welcome at Revolution Skate.
-
For children under 14, a parent or responsible adult must remain on site during the event.
-
Young people aged 14–17 may attend without an adult present, but must bring emergency contact details with them.
-
It is the responsibility of parents/carers to ensure these details are with the child and that they are prepared to attend independently.
-
Revolution Skate staff are trained in safeguarding and first aid, but we do not provide formal supervision and are not a childcare service.

Do I have to book in advance?
No need to pre-book — just turn up and pay on the day! We recommend arriving early to avoid disappointment as some sessions can get busy.

What should I wear?
Wear comfy clothes you can move in. Protective gear is strongly recommended, especially if you’re new to skating.

Can parents/guardians skate too?
Absolutely! We encourage it. It's great fun and helps younger skaters feel more confident on the rink.

Can I bring my own food and drink?
Yes, you’re welcome to bring your own food and drink. Facilities are also available within the leisure centre if you would like to purchase additional refreshments.

Is skating safe?
Like any sport, there’s a risk of falling. We do everything we can to keep it safe and fun, and we strongly recommend wearing protective gear. Check out our Skate Safe guide for tips before you roll!
